This is but one page of the PODB. There are several other views of course including the ability to set those views according to a person's level. A salesperson, for example would see only his or her files. This application saved us time and limited mistakes by keeping records in one place and allowing us to monitor and record progress throughout the fullfillment process. It also provided historical data when we needed it. Since it also tracked Extended Service Agreements, it was designed to be a help to the helpdesk personnel who were given live/searchable reports on their support interface which I also wrote. We could do shipment tracking, 3rd party license storage and look-up, sales reports, and to some extent forecasting with this tool.
As a matter of trivia, PODB was conceived when our salesperson Otis Laird asked me for a report on his sales. Prior to this we had to go through accounting.
